Meet the Players Press Conference , Venetian Macao Tennis Showdown November 23 2007

Superstars Pete Sampras and Roger Federer arrived in Macao today for the much awaited Venetian Macao Tennis Showdown. This is the third match in their series of head to head clashes.

Their flight by private jet from Kuala Lumpur was delayed because of a typhoon.

At the Welcome the Players Press Conference in the Venetian Macao Resort Hotel.

Peter Sampras said. It was a challenge for me to play against Roger but in the second match I got lot closer. I had a few chances but Roger kept coming up with second serve aces. Which is what I used to do! I am really looking forward to the match tomorrow.

World No 1 Roger Federer added, “ Peter was maybe the greatest player ever and it is an honour for me to play against him. This exhibition series is great for the game and helps to promote tennis in Asia.

賽事，結果令人意想不到，在場的觀眾未到最後一刻也不知道冠軍誰屬，原本排第二名的西蒙尼斯（Miguel Angel JIMENEZ）在落後四桿的情況下發力勁追，終於在最後的一天把昨天領先的對手瑞典球手卡爾森（ Robert KARLSSON）擊敗。在極有可能由四位球手再打加洞賽的情況下，產生了三個亞軍，包括飲恨的卡爾森，在最後一天表現突出泰國的贊弟（Thongchai JAIDEE），以及韓國名將崔京周 (K.J. CHOI)。假如西蒙尼斯在最後一桿沒有推進洞的話，球賽將會產生一個四人的加洞賽。三位並列第三位的球手每人獲得十六萬七千多美元的獎金。

冠軍人物西蒙尼斯再一次在香港哥爾夫球會燃點著他心愛的古巴雪茄來慶祝勝利，也代表了第49屆瑞銀香港高爾夫球公開賽告此一段落，亦為這個已經舉辦
