The IRB World Sevens Series will celebrate
its tenth anniversary in true sevens style this weekend as the most competitive
season of IRB Sevens rugby ever arrives in Hong Kong for the largest tournament
on the circuit – the 24- team Cathay Pacific/Credit Suisse Hong Kong
Sevens. With the closeness of the series,
the 30 points on offer to the Cup champions in Hong Kong will go a long way to
determining this year’s Series champions.
Three different teams, Argentina, England
and South Africa, have won
the four events played on the series to date with England
and South Africa currently
sharing the series lead ahead of the Hong Kong
tournament. In addition to the series
event winners, Wales will be
lining up as Rugby World Cup champions after their recent heroics in Dubai.
The Cathay
Pacific/Credit Suisse Hong Kong Sevens 2009 kicks-off tomorrow, 27 March, at
4:30pm and concludes on Sunday, 29 March, with the Cup Final to be held at
6:20pm. For more information
